What is a Tax Advisor?

Answer:
A Tax Advisor is a financial expert specifically
trained to offer advice on the preparation of your tax returns. Although not a requirement, many tax advisors are Certified Public Accountants or lawyers trained in tax law.  People usually hire a tax advisor to help reduce the amount of taxes they are paying by examining their tax returns and identifying any deductions the person might be eligible for that would help.

Tax advisors also prepare tax returns and can even file your taxes for you directly with the Internal Revenue Service. Tax advisors are not licensed but the IRS does regulate their practice and stiff penalties exist for advisors that provide negligent advice or fail to properly file on your behalf.

Tax advisors provide an important service to people who don’t have time to learn the ins and outs of tax law or who may have complicated tax situations and need additional professional advice.
