What is the Bar Exam?

Answer:
The bar exam is a test that is taken by anyone
wishing to practice law in their particular jurisdiction.  In the United States, each state has its own bar association and bar exam.  The bar exams usually consist of a standardized test, often obtained from the National Conference of Bar Examiners, or NCBE, and its own essay exam.

The purpose of the bar examination, often referred to simply as “the bar,” is to evaluate knowledge of the law and the responsibilities of attorneys.  Subjects usually covered in the bar exam include torts, contract law, criminal law, real property, and constitutional law.
