What is Bail?

Answer:
Bail is a sum of money required to secure the
release of an arrested person from jail.
The bail money is provided as a guarantee that the arrested person will appear at a later date in court. Each county has a schedule that determines the amount of bail required to be posted.

Bail can be paid in cash or with a major credit card such as VISA. If you’re able to pay the bail yourself, you will be able to get it back once you’ve made your required court appearances. If you’re unable to come up with bail money, the services of a bail bondsman can assist you by providing the amount of your total bail. If you choose to use a bail bondsman to provide your bail money, it will cost you approximately 10% of your bail – a non-refundable ten percent. A bail bondsman will require some collateral - just in case you fail to appear in court.
