How Many Times Can I Take the Bar Exam?

Answer:
Aspiring attorneys who have graduated from law school
are often worried about the bar exam, and with good reason.  The bar examination is an intense examination which is necessary for anyone wishing to become licensed to practice law.  Rules and regulations surrounding the bar exam vary from state to state.

Most states have no limit to the number of times someone can retake the bar exam.  However, 18 states and two US Territories have restrictions on how many times the bar exam can be taken.  Iowa and New Hampshire only allow candidates to take the bar twice; all other areas with limitations limit it to 3-6 times.  If someone wishes to take the bar exam more times than the limit, he or she must request special permission from the bar association in his or her home state.
