A patent attorney is a lawyer who has special
qualifications in helping people obtain patents.  They act in all matters pertaining to patent law and practice, such as filing an opposition.


Patent attorneys are usually certified through the United States Patent and Trademark Office and are allowed to represent clients before the office.  Their primary responsibility is to file, prepare, and prosecute patent applications.

In order to be a patent attorney, one must pass the USPTO Registration Examination.  A candidate must also have sufficient knowledge or education pertaining to the product being patented.

Patent Attorneys are real lawyers who specialize in patent law and litigation.
